Home Euthanasia for Pets in St Helens

A peaceful goodbye, in the comfort of home.

Autumn Tails provides gentle home euthanasia for cats and dogs in St Helens and the surrounding areas. When the time comes to say goodbye, being at home can allow your pet to remain somewhere familiar and comfortable, surrounded by the people they know and love.

Why choose home euthanasia?

A calm and familiar place to say goodbye

Saying goodbye to a much-loved pet is never easy. At home, your pet can remain in familiar surroundings, with their favourite people, smells and comforts around them. There is no unfamiliar waiting room, bright lights or strange sounds, and you can have the time and privacy you need to say goodbye together.

Is home euthanasia right for my pet?

Choosing when to say goodbye is one of the hardest decisions a pet owner has to make. If you're worried about your cat or dog's quality of life, your own vet can help you assess whether the time may be approaching.

Home euthanasia can be a comforting option for families who would prefer their pet's final moments to take place somewhere familiar and peaceful. If you're unsure whether it is the right choice for you and your pet, I'm happy to talk through the process and answer any questions before you make an appointment.

What Happens During a Home Euthanasia Visit?

1. Time to talk

We take time to talk about your dog, how they have been recently and any questions or concerns you may have. I’ll explain what will happen before we begin.

Dog calm and peaceful before put to sleep

2. Gentle sedation

Your dog will first be given an initial injection of pain relief and sedative to help them become deeply relaxed and comfortable, in familiar surroundings.

3. A peaceful goodbye

Once your dog is calm and comfortable, the final injection is given. You can stay close throughout, talking to them, holding them or simply sitting quietly beside them.

4. Dignified aftercare

After your dog has passed, you can spend some quiet time together. If you have chosen the aftercare package, we'll then gently take them to the crematorium, wrapped in soft blankets and carried with care.
